Library Hosting
The software-as-a-service model (SaaS) is popular for small and medium sized libraries:
· that do not wish to make a large up-front capital investment or wish to avoid the expense of keeping a physical server in a data centre; and/or
· do not have access to sufficient in-house computing expertise; or
· whose IT personnel are heavily committed to other projects.
Under this model, we host your library on our server.Your Koha instance is personalized with your library’s name and logo and a selection of key system preferences are pre-set for you.You have access 24/7 from any web-enabled computer.We back up your data daily and provide support including a telephone help-desk. At handover your Koha system is ready to run.
Hosted Solution 1 : suitable for small collections (up to say, 12,000 bibliographic records) in a private guest area on a shared server.Our initial establishment fee starts from $1,980 plus GST and monthly hosting from $120 per month. Support package is extra. Conditions apply.
Hosted Solution 2 : suitable for moderate to large collections where rare periods of down-time can be tolerated.Runs on a shared CALYX server and includes a second instance for testing and training purposes. This service is also suitable for large libraries seeking to fully evaluate Koha prior to deciding upon local installation.
Hosted Solution 3 : suitable for large collections requiring very high levels of customer service and system availability. Runs on a dedicated Calyx server.
Custom Implementation
However large or small your collection, CALYX’ team of IT experts will provide the services you need to ensure a smooth implementation of your Koha ILMS.We can advise on server configuration, expertly install your system and configure it to your instructions.For libraries in very remote locations, we can build, configure and ship your server with Koha installed and ready to run (conditions apply).
Prices are individually calculated for each project depending on your requirements.
Ongoing Support
Whatever your support needs, CALYX offers a service to ensure your Koha installation is optimized for maximum satisfaction of staff and library clients alike.
A support plan is available for libraries in relatively stable environments, where staff are knowledgeable but want the ability to ask questions of the support team as issues arise.Another plan has been designed for those libraries seeking to be at the forefront of technology deployment to meet users’ advanced needs.Plans can be tailored to meet specific needs.
In all cases, support is available by telephone or on-line. A ticket system is deployed to ensure that all issues are captured and that users can track progress of problem resolution via an online form @ support.calyx.net.au
Clients of the hosted service starting from $150 per month, have a support plan bundled with their hosting fee.
Education and Training
CALYX’ training services are provided by qualified librarians and certified training professionals to ensure your staff are knowledgeable and confident to provide the level of service that you expect for your clients.Our IT staff are available to guide or train your IT personnel, but we do not inflict them on librarians!
We offer a variety of learning packages to address specific functionality of Koha.From our New User Introductory course to advanced learning packages that enable you to fully exploit Koha’s numerous features, our training is tailored to your budget and to recognise the prior learning of your staff.We aim to situate staff learning within the context of your library.
Training can be delivered face to face or on-line using a variety of tools.Training notes are provided.
Data Conversion
In our opinion, data conversion is the most critical component of a new ILMS installation.It is best undertaken in a collaboration of librarians and IT professionals to ensure the integrity of the MARC and holdings records.CALYX information essentials is itself such a collaboration and we work closely with your staff to achieve the optimum outcome within your available budget.
